Sean Daly is a Chartered Structural Engineer with 14 years structural design experience.

Sean has an instinctive feel for construction having been born into a family of construction business owners. For over thirty years his father has run his own groundworks business and this where Sean first learned to read Architect's drawings and perform take-off calculations, at the age of 16.

Sean graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He gained further valuable contractor experience early on in his career, working with Moss Construction (Southern) Ltd on the very first phase of the Oxford Business Park development. After spells with J C Sturrock Consulting Engineers in Chipping Norton and then Gifford in Witney, he formed Solid Structures Consulting Engineers. The practice has now been operating sucessfully for 6 years.

During his time at JC Sturrock, Sean gained a firm grounding in structural design and a developed a keen interest in historic buildings and traditional building construction. At Gifford, Sean gained experience in country houses, commercial offices, mixed use developments, university student accommodation, schools, hospitals, laboratories, industrial buildings and process plants.

Over the 6 years, Sean has built the practice steadily and has undertaken projects that range from roof jacking of a Grade II Listed Building to contractor design on the Olympic Athletes Village. A number of niche areas of expertise have also been developed which include, natural stone staircases and traditional carpentry green oak framed buildings.

Sean and his team have encountered a wide and diverse range of projects from the straightforward to the utterly challenging. Each project is undertaken with the same energy to see it through to a successful completion.
