The Jam Factory >
Frank Cooper built his Marmalade factory in 1902 in Oxford following his wife Sarah’s creation of the famous marmalade, made from an old family recipe. It was subsequently extended to it’s current footprint in 1925. SOLID have been involved in upgrading the Grade 2 listed Jam Factory to modern office standards.

The challenge
The proposed layout necessitated a high degree of new M&E distribution. Any new holes created for services traversing the building, had to be in structurally sound positions.
The SOLID Approach
Our methodology for most historical building projects is to unpick the alterations and additions that were carried out over the years.
By researching historical records and on site surveys we build an accurate picture of what the building looked like at day one. Only then can we assess any proposed changes.
