Adhering to Passivhaus principles, two-storey Down House was built from solid masonry and clad externally with high-performance carbon-enhanced insulation and a breathable render.
Planning permission stipulated that Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes should be achieved. Attention to detail was critical with the upper floor located in the roof space and cantilevered corners, tall chimneys and slim external canopies to be considered.
We undertook a flood risk assessment in accordance with PPS25: Development and Flood Risk and designed a standalone sewage treatment plant.
