The Challenge

To maintain the historical integrity of the existing buildings, conserving them wherever possible and promoting sustainability.

The SOLID Approach

The SOLID team worked closely with local planning consultants to find the appropriate balance between new and heritage. Where possible we have utilised existing steel frames and reused the foundations that remained viable. Where new foundations were required we have propped existing timber frames to protect them and dug new foundations around them. Rather than replace all timber trusses we have worked to repair and maintain original trusses where possible.
